Hello guys! My name is Juanvi and with this blog i want to share part of my experiences, my business and in general what i think and what’s going on in my business in the last 11 years. But of course not all, only things i feel interesting to comment and i would like to share with you!
Let me tell you that I started the summer of 2012 renting a sailboat that I launched myself, a Beneteau Oceanis 45, and by using social networks I managed to fill the summer around the Pitiusas with weekly groups. The experience was so good that I wanted to make it a business that would last throughout the year, not just in summer, and for that, I had to think of new and unknown places for me, and that is where the Canary Islands appeared.
This sector was very new to me, I am an Industrial Engineer and had been working as an Engineer around 15 years. The 2008 crisis, when I was self-employed, made people stop paying and my illusions and desire as an engineer went to waste, so I decided to take different paths, which would fill me up and please me more, and make my job happier, clients happier and with it, happy myself.
However, I always thought that every business for its growth needs to have something that makes it different from the rest and that is when I thought of directing it towards the gay community, since being gay myself, it was a good point to start and important one to achieve that this community feel more comfortable on board. In this way I went with the Beneteau from my hometown, Burriana, to the island of Gran Canaria, where the south of it (Maspalomas) is an important point for gay tourism in Europe. That is where I have been working for the first 7 years, without leaving the island and working more or less well (with ups and downs, but it is normal) until the pandemic (COVID) arrived.
